Chess - it's just not cricket! Or is it???

After the enormous success of Twenty20 cricket (the abbreviated version where each side gets 20 overs rather than 5 days) I have devised a new version of chess it's called ChessT20

It's gone monster massive in the Rhonddha valley with crowds up a staggering 4,000%.  Essentially each player gets just 20 moves.  If the game has not been decided after these moves the winner is the player who is materially ahead.  If it is still tied the Duckworth Lewis method comes into operation to decide the victor.

We have cheerleaders in full Welsh national dress with 10 inch stovepipe hats; male voice choirs and even jacuzzis for the elderly - it's chess with the full jazz-a-matazz treatment.  We even had a dozen Tom Jones lookee-likees at a recent sellout event at Carnaervon Argos - chess with the Hollywood touch - the crowd went proper mental.

Now that the genie's out of the bottle there's no putting the stopper back on.  Obviously this will go global.  I'm sole owner of the franchise including the worldwide television rights.

This is the future of sports entertainment so please form an orderly queue and start the bidding.

Will there be television referals, though?

Duckworth lewis method?

You need a catchy sound bite to bring in the MTV generation, otherwise, it's flawless. You've done it again, Beast.

I believe the Duckworth Lewis method is this:

If a = moves, x= strength of players and w= how many Arnott's buscuits you've had today then it goes:

34a x 7x -8w (mmm, Mint Slice!) +42 (w+8a) = Winner Determined!

Really, I've got no idea as well.

Blimey Nelso, I thought being an Aussie you'd know all about the Duckworth Lewis method! But then again, I guess you don't get so many matches interrupted by atmospheric conditions....

Did somebody mention the Ashes?

Avatar of Beast719

Yes won again by the England and WALES cricket team.  Joy of joys.

Avatar of rich34788

How many Welsh players were in that team, Beastie?

Avatar of Beast719

OK.  But if there were any good enough they would be in it.  Barra brith.

Barra Brith? Now there's a waste of a good cup of tea!

I mean cricket it's just about hitting something and then running.  You'd think that would appeal entirely to the criminal mentality but those antipodean convicts really aren't very good at it.

This is totally random, but I saw in a local paper a funny headline:

Australia kicked in the Ashes.

Hope you'll get a laugh from that. Laughing
