Chess as a stress reliever, how has it helped you?

I'm late to this thread but I wanted to pitch in haha. For real chess allows me to focus my energy on a problem I CAN solve in a safe space, it distracts me from real life problems for a little bit., just enough to allow me to go at them later on with a fresh start! It's helped so much

For me chess can be either a source of stress or a stress relief. I find that activities that are not competitive (gardening, drawing) are a better stress relief.
