Also JLP solid wood boards are outstanding, but more expensive than CWW.....(note ChessHouse is the exclusive retailer for JLP boards)....

I can recommend both CWW (for a high quality board at a very reasonable price) and JLP board (as I said, an outstanding board, but more expensive than CWW).  You will not be disappointed with either choice.  And both companies will provide excellent service.

I have a bunch of boards. The JLP from Chess House is head and shoulders above the rest. I have their table also. If you can get JLP on sale it is the best bang for the buck as it is totally classy IMHO.

Regardless of where you purchase the board
When not in use
Store it vertically not horizontally
I’m the proud owner of two curved sliding boards because I didn’t know that

I believe there are 3 general guidelineshere

-Dont get a glossy finish

-Pick woods/colors that leave enough contrast with the wood/color of your pieces.

-Get square size appropriate for your piece base diameter.
