Can't tell how long the table is but they could set at the ends instead. Viola. Board is correct and the pieces were set up incorrectly 
That's what happens when non chessers run the place...!
You know, whenever I go into a shop with a chess board set up on display for some reason, it is almost never set up correctly. My daughter and I have gotten into the habit of fixing them.
