i think it is a great idea, i wish they would start it in my school
Chess club at SCHOOL?
I have been a scholastic chess coach for well over thirty years now. When I began there was little to no interest in chess and as my program grew at school and we brought in trophies from regional and state tournaments interest began to increase. The key to growing chess in your area is very simple. Join the USCF and become a certified TD, learn to organize and direct tournaments and you will see it grow, not just in your school but with neighboring schools once you begin to host tournaments. Also, those tournaments are capable of bringing in hundreds of dollars for your club and as chess grows around you, because of your efforts, your organization will bring in thousands of dollars.
Good Luck!
I think you will be surprised! I went through a similar situation. I started a chess club with 1 other person at my small school where we thought nobody else played. Within 2 weeks we had a dozen members. I'd certainly give it a try.
My school has started a chess club and it's great. People of all skill levels, ranging from 200 to 2000 get together every week and freely play chess. It is really cool to see different people hanging out, doing what they love, and improving together as a community.
I've been thinking about creating a chess club at my school, but I live in an area without many chess players or really people who seem like they would like it. I just made a flyer for it, so that people might show that they are interested and I can start the club. Do yall think its a good idea?
Do you want to play chess against people in your school?
Yes -> great idea
No -> Bad idea
