in the club I was member there was no rules
why have rules other than the rules of chess.
and it shouldn't be nessesary to write that people should respect each other as it is just a part of being human to respect each other.

That what I mean because etiket itsn't in the rules of chess so we must make them.
I think rules are importantly necessary to make sure everybody has fun and learns.
This isn't serious. Look at his past topics.
If you have nothing useful to contribute in here then please leave.
We don't have to make that rule but it was just an example.
We need to have rules that everybody knows how to behave in chess club.

"etiket"? - ROFLMAO! It's "etiquette"!
And why do you need rules for behavior? If this is a school, behavior related items are school wide, not just at a chess club. Are you saying that if I join the Chess Club, I have to be kind and polite but if I join the National Honor Society, Debate Club, SADD (Students Against Drunk Driving), or the Key Club that I can be the biggest bast*rd ever and that's ok?
Come on, Man!
Oh good.
Maybe you could make it a rule women aren't allowed in your chess club?
Or if they play, they must look like a man.
Not really because we want to include anybody who likes to play chess in chess club - even women.

Sorry I no how to say it but couldn't spell it good enough for the spell check to correct it. You know what I tried to say though.

Hmm, but it won't be fair because the women can't understand.
Maybe you could have the women chess club meet in a different building?
Why can't women understand what?
Shouldnot be necessary to meet in a different building - chess club should be open for any body to play and it good to have different people to come so that there is a challenge for top players and learning for less good players.
If women want to join chess club they should be allowed to but it must be that everybody treat them well. I don't know what this is a problem for.
We want not only good but as well bad players in chess club so that there is something here for every body.

No because even a school club it is not only for our school. Any body from any where can join chess club so there need to be rules. We just do it at school with their blessing.
If you let bad players join, they will be discouraged by always losing to good players. It's better to separate the bad and good player. The bad players will take lessons, and the good players can eat cakes and fruit.
Please see rule 4 at the opening post.
Do you think that it should be rule for best players to give lessons? Or say at least 1 lesson per week
Yes, once a week the good players can travel to where the bad players play and give lessons in exchange for cake and or fruit.
Evey body would play at the chess club - if it is somewhere else then it would not be chess club so lessons must take place at chess club.
Please also see rule 6. People who have no cake or fruit should be allowed to learn and not be exluded for being poor.
I think your rules is a bit to much
4) No food/drink/music is allowed at chess club.
comment: at least coffee should be alloud it is a sparetime.
5) No talking is at chess club unless it is talk about chess or chess club.
comment: it is not a tournament and talk about other things as small talk should be allowed. + it is fun if people are allowed to say a joke or sing a song if they like. give people space. it is something people should enjoy.
7) Best chess club members have to give minimum 1 less per week to weak player
comment: I think some people will leave it shouldn't be a requirement if they just just want to play chess.

THanks for reply it is all good opinion.
But for the lessons, we need good players to help the bad players and women who are new so I think it should be part of the chess club rule to say that good players must 'give something back' to the chess club members.
I also don't think coffee should be allowed as it will be a chess club for mainly younger people and they shouldn't drink too much coffee. Also hot water can be dangerous.
And for talking, this is chess club not signing club. If they want to do a sing song then they can start their own club and call it something like Signing Club.
what happens to rule breakers. a rule must have consequences what if someone talks about his new computergame while they play chess.

Good idea what do you think?
Maybe we ban them from coming to chess club for 8 weeks? I don't think any other sanction is possible. Maybe we can write a letter to their parent or teacher also.

I think you should have 3 strike policy. first time just tell them they do something against club policy and hope they listen and let them stay and observe how they behave.
2. if they do not listen send them home and tell them they are welcome if they want to obey your terms.
3. if they next club evening repeat without improvement you can ban them.
you shouldn't just throw around with banning people suddenly you are the only one in the club.

But we have not seen chess club before so are there any rules we should make?

6) Any body can join chess club if they want to and it will always be free.
7) Best chess club members have to give minimum 1 less per week to weak player
