Lichess has an open database of nearly 6 billion games played for people to study and analyse

why does chess.com not have the same thing, at least a database with a similar amount of games if not every game ever played on here.

Incidentally, does anyone know the first ever game played on chess.com.

thanks.

The size of the Chess.com games database is orders of magnitude larger than Lichess. There have been close to 20 million games a day played on site for a few years and there are 13 years of games before those numbers were initially reached. An rough estimate is around 36 billion game in the past 5 years. Since the site's inception easily puts that over 100 billion.

I know there's a new games storage architecture and it might be possible that it could become possible to see a database, possibly similar to Explorer, that will eventually become available, but don't know for sure if that's likely.
