Chess.com has disabled my Diamond chess.com account `cause my sister opened her own free account on the same computer we share!?! Is it only allowed to have one account on each computer?

This is horrendous! Anyone else experienced this? I have paid in advance for a whole year (about $10 a month x 12)  not to mention my ongoing games at chess.com, which chess.com , by disabling my account, prevented me to attend to and which I have now lost all of them!

Is chess.com going to refund me the money for the remaining time of my membership?

I have asked chess.com to reopen my account which is PAID for, but nothing happens!

I feel cheated!

Please share your experience with chess.com, on similar cases, with me. Does anyone out there know the correct adress to chess.com customer service ?

I was only able to write this and post it, through my sister´s newly opened free account.

The site doesn't close accounts just because they are from the same computer. There could be an issue if the accounts play rated games against each other though or if one of the accounts violated the site's TOS.

Also, from the TOS:

Refunds will NOT be given to subscribers who are banned from the site due to violating the Terms and Conditions of site use (abusive behavior, cheating, etc).

You can have two accounts on the same computer.

But if one person uses both accounts to do stuff (boost ratings, manipulate tournaments, see notes from other vote chess teams) then the accounts can be deleted.

I gotta follow this!

You have a Diamond account? Since it's not the account used for the OP, where is it?

Now you apparently have two accounts yourself and your "sister" has an account too.

The old "brother" excuse with a twist.

I think this will be my last yr of paying chess.com.

You write: "There could be an issue if the accounts play rated games against each other though "

REPLY: I can assure you this has not happened!

You write: "..or if one of the accounts violated the site's TOS."

REPLY: What are the site`s TOS, can you please give us that link.

QUESTION: I do not know that I have violated any rules.

Besides, is it not normal customer service at chess.com to inform the member WHY  you choose to (close) disable a (You know each member´s e.mail adress) a member`s account? I never received a such e.mail from chess.com. The remaining period of my diamond membership is about 6 months which is ab. $ 60.

Is that not a RIP-OFF?

I don't believe they do notify accounts of egregious breaches of the TOS. They might e-mail the address on file, but I'm not positive about that.

You can go to your old profile and see what the site reason for the account closure is. There is usually a link to an more generic explanation but enough of one to figure out the primary reason.

However, you are best served by opening a ticket with the link I gave. You should include the username and probably should use the e-mail address tied to that account so they know it really belongs to you and staff can correspond with that address/account.

Cherub_Enjel

They closed my account "tocuewonsee" without a warning.

I was thinking of coughing up some cash, but this and 2Q1Cs ban have me thinking otherwise...

Martin_Stahl

Don't break rules and your account will be fine wink.png

THINK about it folks.  Chess.com is not going to close a paying member's account - which has a decent chance of also being a paying account for the next year, etc. - for insignificant reasons.  I can't comment further since I know nothing about what happened.  I hope TKS1555 is told the exact reason by chess.com at which point he can hopefully explain what happened - which may include his account being misused by another.

I nearly got banned from a science site when my high school Senior Aide asked if she could use my ID and Password to research some topic and ended up getting into nasty-worded arguments with scientists online.  I LEARNED from that experience!

2q wasnt banned he was just muted

All the relevant links have been supplied.  Since this buggy can only travel downhill for here,  I'm going to apply the brakes and lock it up.

REPLY: I have now read the terms and conditions at chess.com:

I still insist that I have not broken any rules, let alone "egregarious breaches of the TOS"

You wrote: "You can go to your old profile and see what the site reason for the account closure is."

REPLY: I can´t go to my (old profile?, I only have one, I am now writing and posting from my sister`s a free account as I can not possibly log into my account since you have disabled the account. This is rediculous!) profile. You have locked it!

You wrote: "There is usually a link to an more generic explanation but enough of one to figure out the primary reason."

REPLY: What kind of nonsense is this? It makes no sense to me what so ever, sorry. You should also take into account, that many of your customers from which you earn quite a profit selling expensive memberships, are foreigners and so English is not their native tongue, so basic politeness and a minimum of effort, on your side, is required and expected in communicating also with foreigners. I certainly fail to see that you make any such effort at all. Why make things more complicated than they really are!?

You wrote: "However, you are best served by opening a ticket with the link I gave."

REPLY: The link/legal you gave me, does not give me any opportunity for a ticket. Ticket?

Again, why complicate things? Why not open/ reactivate my account of which I have prepaid Diamond membership and have a remaining 6 months worth, abot $60? Of course you can do so if you are willing.

PLEASE NOTE: If you are not willing to reactivate my account, please write and post on this forum the reason or reasons for closing/ disabling my Diamond account, as chess.com see it.  I am, and I am confident that goes for a lot of chessplayers on the chess.com forum, eager to know the ANSWER to this.
