chess.com intermittency

I had a platinum subscription but cancelled it for the coming year. It seems half the time I load up chess.com that it's unresponsive. Sometimes the intermittency has caused me to lose games, no big deal as I'm not a great player.

As I'm on a 1Gbps fibre wired connection and don't have trouble with other sites I frequent, it seems like a website issue.

Just mentioning it as it can be kind of annoying and makes me not want to pay. Other than that, I like everything about the site.

There are a lot of different things that can impact connection quality. A lot of it is outside the site's control.

For things you can do to minimize connection issue, check out the following articles.

There isn't a connection issue. fwiw I've been in IT for 25 years (just saying I can diagnose it). A wired 1 Gbps connection with 8ms ping to chess.com looks good when stuff works.

From what I see half the time it's requests to cookielaw.org stopping a page from loading, the other half is time to first byte to chess.com

Since chess.com is behind cloudflare it's almost impossible to tell whether it's their issue or chess.com. Obviously Cloudflare have their own issues now and again.

The intermittency seems to happen in spells. Just mentioning it as a slight annoyance from a user POV. I did end up renewing my membership as it's good value to me- though the site being inaccessible due to the TTFB thing is a bit tedious at times.

Simply accessing other sites when this happens suggests it's not a local issue.
