Chess.com matchmaking?!?!

I play a game, finish it and my opponent offers a rematch. I decline then click new game but then chess.com matchmaking pairs me with the same person. Is there a way to avoid this?

Maybe try going over to forums. Then going back to the play tab. If that doesn’t work. Switch the time control to something different. Then switch back to what you want. Then hit play.

if you use a web browser for chess. Then refresh the page.

hope this helps.

I do not think there is a way if you don't want to wait a minute (and hope your not-wanted opponent is already matched with another player by then)

OK

The manual way is to just block them, then after you're finished playing, unblock them.

That's the only way I could think of.

sad.png but I don't want to block randos

ChampoftheBepoCamp

Just wait for like 5 seconds or something after you denied their last rematch... should do the trick happy.png but if I get paired again lel

FMLarry

You can just unblock them after

Bruvoskity

Lots of randos blocked me...I find I am blocked by lots of people I never heard of

FMLarry

Another way is to see if the person you don't wanna play is playing, so you can send out your challenge with no chance of them accepting, unless they decided to end the game very quick.

FMLarry

I once had this FM message me "Goodbye." and block me after I flagged them.

Bruvoskity

by the way, enyone wanna look at me bullet rating?

IcyAvaleigh
yeah imagine players blocking you because you play on time at bullet 0_o

to be honest every flag-complainer who plays bullet just looks dumb to me xD
Bruvoskity

yeah

He could have a membership, so he could just see you and click manually on your challenge.

If not, you were unfortunate enough to seek the next game at the same time as him.

There are a few options if you do not want to play the same person right away:

1. block

2. wait for a while and even perhaps look at his profile to see that he is playing (you can even click on the game to be extra sure)

3. abort the game if it pairs you with him (but don't do it too many times, you might lose a right to abort games)

I understand getting angry when you get flagged (I've had those moments) but I don't think I ever blocked someone. At least I don't remember.

Sometimes my opponent plays so cleanly I just admire it and congratulate them.
