Chess base light is free.
ChessX is a good Pgn viewer and is very easy to use. don't think it supports opening tree views yet.
I like Scid vs Pc for database management.
Lucaschess is great for opening training, playing, tactics, and other tools not commonly found. It is very unique.
IMHO Lucaschess and scid vs Pc do about everything you could ever need.
Hello!
I would like to ask the chess.com community about your preferenced chess database reading programs such as SCID.
Can anyone recommend any program which is capable of reading PGN game collections and creating databases but is easier to use than SCID?
Are there any free versions of ChessBase?
I would like the program to have a nice opening browser and search filters according to player names, strenght, positons, opening ECO codes etc.
Thank you!
