Chess databases

I currently use ChessBase but am getting somewhat tired of the continual problems with bugs in the programs.  My latest is that it has stopped copying the games from ChessBase Magazine to the reference database (yes the copy to reference database box is ticked when install the magazine to the hard disk).  I am hoping that ChessBase will fix this latest bug.  in the meantime I am considering other databases.  Chess Assistant looks reasonable.  Has anyone any experience (good or bad) with Chess Assistant and what are the pros and cons of the various packages out there.

I use Chessbase for helping with analysis and coaching of students - i.e. searching for top games and games where certain positions have arisen.

Are you installing all the updates?  I asked because i don't have any issues when updating the database.

I'm interested in this as well. For some reason it seems hard to get good information on Chess Assistant from anywhere other than their website. For example, if I look up Hiarcs or (obviously) Chessbase on YouTube I get tons of videos demoing different features. With Chess
Assistant, not so much. Which concerns me that no one is using it or it isn't being supported, updated anymore.

Seriously, type 'chess assistant' into YouTube and see what pops up. A few Russian sites, a guy who says he cracked it, and a ton of ChessKing videos.

And they have training videos on their website but some of them are quite old.

Now try Hiarcs or Chessbase.
