Chess dreams
I think that's a sign that you need to develop some more focus.
Your dreams reflect an emotional affinity for the game but your mind is not in control to solve actual problems. For example, before going to sleep visualize some pawn vs. pawn endgames, e.g. 4 vs 3 kingside, and vary the positions of the kings before solving the puzzles.
But no, I don't get that a lot nor do I want to go there. As Ivanchuk said, you shouldn't play chess all too often. It's better to treat it as a focused study than churning away all possible variations without knowing what you're working on. Focus is key.
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one. Last night I dreamed that I was dreaming that I was dressed up in a burlesque frock and was dancing on top of a marble chessboard. I was spitting the pieces into place and was able to get my tip toes between the pieces so as not to knock them over. Then a big red steam train pulled up and tooted its whistle. Imagine my surprise when Marilyn Monroe stuck her head out of the window and shouted:"B4!" She was wearing rose tinted spectacles in the shape of love hearts and she kept licking her lips and nodding in my direction. Then snakes started slithering out of the coal tender and they were singing Hotel California but they had re-written the vocal harmonies to include #11 and b5 tones, which made me wonder if there really was pink Champagne on ice. I kept hearing a voice saying:"You can check out any time you like, but you can never be Steve." Eventually I got down from the chessboard, kissed Marilyn hard on the mouth, picked up my fishing rod, grew wings and flew home. As I was taking off Marilyn was waving at me and blowing me kisses.
I'm just glad I'm not the only one who has weird dreams. Happy chessing everybody. ;o)
I often dream about chess positions.
Anyone else get this? It often wakes me up. The positions make no sense in my dreams. It's as if i have no knowledge of chess but am desperately trying to remember how to play. Strange.
