A funny item about getting older: " You remember when the only special effect needed to make a blockbuster movie was a twenty-five foot mechanical shark. "
Chess for Oldtimers --- Good Idea !
A cute item ( but still a bit sad ? ): You've been practicing " Welcome to Wal-Mart " as your backup retirement plan.

you can't touch a railroad pension.
Did you really work for the railroad? Did you really get up early in the morning and work all day long? Also, who was Dinah?
In my case I did indeed spend a long time on a railway, just over 29 years in all, sometimes on the dayshift, sometimes on the evening shift and sometimes on midnights. The name of the railway ? Well the late great Hank Snow once sang a song about my little old railway ( that was entitled " Canadian Pacific " ). As for Dinah blowing the horn I think that she must have been related to the engineer if they allowed her to do that lol.
Good Heavens Bishop you managed to find an interesting picture to post ! Mind you I never did work as a gandy-dancer or do any serious track-repairs. However in my early years working as a Hostler we did have to keep a spike-hammer and a spike-puller handy to properly lineup any damaged switches ( to keep from derailing any locomotives ).
Thanks for the post.
