Pawns:

We are very weak.

Yet we are the soul of chess.

Power in numbers!

Knights:

Coolest looking piece.

My movement eludes newbies.

Catch me if you can.

Bishops:

We are yin and yang.

We move on different planes.

Just one leaves a hole.

Rooks:

Strong and clunky men,

who are best on open files.

Many mates with us.

Queen:

Fierce, ruthless lady

causes panic in her foes

zipping 'round the board.

Kings:

Duck and cover, sir!

Stay hidden behind your pawns.

Until the endgame.

That wasn't right. 5 - 7 - 5 is Haiku. Yours was 7 - 6 - 4. That was more of a hai-pooh

I write a haiku
With gin coursing through my veins
The meter suffers

I'm five, seven, five.

It's crucial you understand.

Obey the rhythm.
