I like playing chess I do not want to quit.Alternative idea?

Try to make your opponent move the same piece twice and protect your pieces if you want to attack yourself.

And read Laslo Polgar`s GIANT chess book once.

Carry on playing and enjoy the game, accepting you may not improve any further. (I'm not saying that you won't improve)

Dale, why would he want to attack himself? I mean really, come on.

@NM dale.. do you mean the 5334 puzzle book?

if tbhat's the case, is that book really that good? I did few hundreds of puzzles but didn't like the fact that all puzzles was about checkmating. Also a lot of mate in 2 was in quile unlikelly position ( like sole kink, vs king and 3-4 pieces), how does it mater is i mate in 2 or 3? i like more relistic puzzles with realistical position and where there could be other tactics than check mating ( for example just gaining material). Recently i started to give a look on those chess book puzzles:

Manual of Chess Combinations, Vol. 1A (Chess School)

Manual of Chess Combinations, Vol. 1B (Chess School)

Manual of Chess Combinations, Volume 2 (Chess School)

Manual of Chess Combinations, Volume 3 (Chess School) (Russian Edition)

from the russian chess school. Wink

Im in the middle of the first book and like the variety and the positions since now are all quite realistic.

I particularly like them because its not all about checkmates, and they start with very basic postions( suggesting the tactic) and go on  with more difficulty puzzles ( and no suggestions). the last book is meant for 2000+ ( so well above my actuall skills ).

As far i saw, they are the best i had the chanche to give a look ( IMHO)

700 may seem a lot, and it is a good start, but I did 23k puzzles my first year and a half (before resetting).  It's all relative I guess...Now I mostly just hammer Chess Mentor tactics courses over and over again. And no, that doesn't cure old and stupid either. Laughing Your mileage may vary.

I predict that there are lots of different ways to approach chess training.

I think playing in tournaments is a good way to train.
