CHESS IN THE PARK/CAFE IN THE UK

I must confess to being a bit jealous of seeing folk playing chess in other countries in their park or even their street. I see there are a couple of posts from a few years ago regarding chess outside of the confines of the chess club. Before I go any further, yes I know British weather isn't as kind as some other countries, but we are made of stern stuff are we not? I know Holland Park in London is one such outdoor venue. And if it rains there is always a cafe; most establishments will only be too happy to have a captive group of customers. I have played chess in public libraries in Fife and found them very welcoming. Are there any good parks that would make great chess venues in our beloved country? Are there any other Brits/Scots/Welsh/Irish etc etc who are likeminded for the great outdoors and chess?

I don't think there is one in Ireland North/South.  At least that I know of.  Though I have played outside many times with a friend on a nice summer day.

it's a truth, playing chess outdoors or a nice cafe gives a nice vibe.

You're welcome. We meet on Wednesdays between about 4.30 and 8.30 but there are chess sets there for use at other times even if partners may be difficult to find at those other times. Note that those on the on-line version of the club only represent a small number of those who actually come in person.
