Chess is a waste of time

I used to be a serious chess player and spent a lot of time playing / studying the game.  But now I have realized that playing chess is simply a waste of time.  it is not going to improve people's lives or help them get better jobs.  i am going to quit playing the game.

does anyone else ever have this realization ?  I think that is why society doesn't spend its time over activities like chess, backgammon, scrabble, and other board games.  Yeah, there is competition in them and the top players could make a living out of it.  But it is so hard to master the games and only a tiny percentage can make a living out of it.  Playing poker is an entirely different activity because you can make money at it and you don't have to be the best player in the world.  Just be better than the other players at a table.

But I have found chess to be a total waste of time.  does anyone agree?

Any activity can be a waste of time depending on one's perception. You've "realized" (decided) that chess is a waste of time for you. Ok, so go engage in some other activity(s). Enjoy!

Somebody please call the morgue and make an appointment for rowsweep.

Obviously he feels there is no purpose for being on this planet.  If chess is a complete waste of time, so is reading a novel, playing a round of golf, watching television, shooting hoops, napping, etc.

There are only three things that are sure to happen.  Death, Taxes, and Darren McFadden will get hurt during the NFL season!

There is really one valuable commodity in the world and that is time. Chess sure is an expensive hobby, that is why it is called the Royal Game. It certainly is not for everyone.

I am starting to think that reading the chess.com forums is a waste of time... Sealed
