CHESS IS ALL A MONOPOLY

Yeah, you red it RIGHT. And no, Im not going nuts. At least not now. I am convinced that chess is all a hoax to still our precious money.

I will start with chess literature:

Everyone, EVERYONE, is writing books about that London System, and im TIRED of it. They are taking advantage of ignorant patzers with money, and what is worst, top players are helping the MONOPOLY out. It was uncommon to see top players using the London System, but now everyone uses it, be it for blitz or for rapid, or classical (Carlsen - Tomaschenko) what the heck is going on here, worst part is White always wins, and that is FAKE. Black has many good systems to face the London, and at best the London System should be a drawing weapon.

It is all a hoax, the big chess editorials tell the players what openings to play, a trend starts, and then books EXPLODE. This is how Cyrus Lakdawala got a job.

I cant take this anymore, all my books are going to come right out of piratebay, Im not helping this monopoly out.

Pulpofeira

There's always someone who will try to make easy money on a field which is interesting for enough people. I suppose the world of openings is especially susceptible of that. But everything which concerns chess?

knighttour2

Buying chess books used is legal but doesn't help chess writers at all.  Agree that any opening book that promises a win or big advantage is lying.  Pros usually use these openings against weaker players.  Kamsky plays the London a lot against IMs or low GMs, but he usually gets no advantage (maybe a small time edge) and then outplays them in the middlegame/endgame.  It's a good way to avoid falling into a highly tactical prepped line.  I've read Lakdawala and hate him.  He's the worst chess writer in history, no exaggeration.  I bought his book on the Bird Opening because I play that opening and books on it are rare but it's unreadable.

@BronsteinPawn  Okay, excuse me if I am taking you too literally, but how is chess a monopoly if Everyone is writing books on the London System?  That sounds like the opposite of a monopoly.

They are all the same dude, the editorials, different names, same pocket. This is a monopoly because it is all about how great the CRAP london system is and I am yet to see a book that talks about how crappy the CRAP london system is.

I tried to write my own book with the refutations and it was taken down in 24 hours, in fact, I dont know how my threads that show the refutations are still up. I guess I have to thank ERIK, even tho he muted me for 2 months.

I don't see that it's a monopoly, but I see the people running the U.S. Chess Federation when I was first seriously looking at chess literature in the 1970's burning in hell for not steering people away from books like "Play Bobby Fischer's Openings and Win" where so many chess players wasted their time focusing on openings instead of tactics - and as if no one else played the same openings and lost!

How do you beat the London system? Post some games dudes. Lets turn this rant into a lesson.

I would probably be gone if I tell you guys the whole analysis, but Im just going to show this game, hopefully you get the idea. Look for Alexander Kotov vs Tigran Petrosian 1952.

If someone decides to pay me a one way ticket to New Zealand, I could reveal all my analysis, and dont worry, I know how not to get caught by inmigration police.

The boot, the wheelbarrow and the thimble have been replaced in the latest version with a T-Rex, a penguin and a 'rubber ducky', the first changes to the pieces since the game was launched in 1935.

Ziggy_Zugzwang

My sister used to like the iron, which I thought was the worst token.

Strangemover

It's all about the car for me. Or the boat. My old man was always the dog.

Ziggy_Zugzwang

My favourite was the boot. My other sister said when she played in a local Monopoly tournament, she gained entrance to from a newspaper competition, a few of the players wanted the boot and they had to roll for it...
