Chess is Sexist/Anti-Feminist??!!

The game before (and still has) a very very high gender imbalance, so to counteract that they created some separate titles and tournaments to get more interest, which has helped a bit and is definitely not anti-feminist

yes but i think its weird that they put a lower rating requirement for WGM than GM, and i was a bit harsh but still

Not only is this a troll topic, it is just a copypasta of another troll topic from a few days ago. Boring.

If this is truly not a troll, which I doubt, then…
Simply put, statistically, women have less involvement in the chess community. There are less women who play chess competitively (and casually), and less women who are as high rated as men. The 2300 required for WGM is to help women reach the title easier, and like chaotikitat said, it helps create more interest in the game for women. Finally, no one has brought to light the point that women can also compete for the GM title, at 2500.

Yes, yes, feed the troll. Good job.

In order to be a GM you have to invest a lot of work in a way which is less encouraged for women compared to men. I think the Polgar sisters is an example of when women have been encouraged in a similar way that men often are. And the results talk stand for themselves.

Since physical strength is not an issue, I don't think there should be categories based on gender. Men are generally more competitive and more likely to be interested in chess... so there are more of them playing, but the women who do play don't need special categories, in my opinion... it does seem sexist.
OK, so recently something has come to my attention and its about women playing chess. Apparently, there is a WGM which for all of you who dont know is a Women grand master. And to be a WGM, your rating should be a min of 2300, but to be a GM its 2500, so my concern is why do women have their own title and why is the rating required less than a normal GM.
What are your thoughts on this?
