i did it, but perhaps because i never saw a Guy Ritchie movie and get much fun in this site to feel like a nerd from the hermits still dont understand why. could you recommend me any movie of this guy?

I was being sarcastic ( making fun of the truth) and saying the opposite of what I meant..I love Chess ! I dont think its Bad at all....

Back to the future is a fun and silly movie you will enjoy if you get to see it...

Well, I can't possibly know everything ... I'm kinda like Wikipedia ...  I have a general broad understanding of most things ... not necessarily facts.

Someone also mentioned Persian influences ... my apologies to all Persians for forgetting this detail, as well. Chess is also highly influenced by the Persian culture. I would bet that there are Arabic influences, as well, but that's left for historians to prove.

I think that was my point, as well: the further back one goes in history in search for the origin of Chess (as played today) ... the more convoluted the origin becomes.

As Jim Morrison would say: "Pretty neat, pretty neat. Pretty cool, pretty cool."

Check that:

Arabic and Persian influences were mentioned in the article.

You can't neccisarily say that chess came from any one place at any one time, because the only way we could know that is if we had a time machine.

maybe someone did, they went back to find the answer and in asking the ?s invented the game

Ms Jean,yes Chess is fantastic! Unfortunately, there are folks out there who have given up on the game of Chess. When one don't use their brain and instead, resorts to engines, and other methods of "assistance" just to get the win, they have demeaned the game and that win becomes worthless. I wonder how the great chess masters of the past would rate this site? Would they consider it to be "serious chess"? Just a thought.

(Of course this does not apply to those who play the game honorably).

Thanks Jean & Kevin by suggestions, i saw Back to the future, Starwars, The Godfather, & their sequels. I liked that movies. About GR the only thing i know he was married with Madonna.

I get your meaning and at the risk of getting shut down. We have had many players caught for cheating and I know that chess.com is trying to keep the site free of this awful thing.

I am really worried that some may not be cheating? I wonder if they get the opportunity to defend themselves.I feel awful for it but thats me...

On the other hand Im certain evryone would say " Erik I am Innocent!"

I would say that Chess will evolve as it has in the technological age as it did with the camels :)

 Then why would there still be an argument about where and when chess was invented?
