The reason that there is not many black grandmasters is because in African countries there isn't a strong tradition of chess compared to European countries. I think the OP was referring to black people in the USA, and it is the same: there just isn't a strong chess tradition in African-American communities. Likewise, there isn't a strong basketball tradition in Eastern Europe, India and Russia. There is no racism, it is just tradition.

One way racism is the scourge of modern woke society. The belief that racism can only be white against black and not black against white.
