Chess is NOT a sport.

For chess to be defined as a sport (or anything else), it needs to fulfill two requirements:
1. Competition against another person or group
2. Significant physical exertion
Chess does have the competition aspect, but NOT the physical exertion, so chess is NOT a sport.
