Chess is not and was never about learning moves or memorising tactics. Chess is about your instincts, feelings, your gut intelligence. Since mostly player lack these required components they have to memorise moves. Don't quit chess. Chess is beautiful if you play with your gut.

Partly true, but I disagree that chess960 is a good way to revive the soul of this game.
It is chaos. Well, I know that modern society likes this word like never before.

Gothic chess is one of my favorite variants, although I believe that in the near future we'll need more spaces if we want to rebuild chess and open a completely new page.

Welcome to the world of actual skills. Everything works like this, not just chess.
And the solutions people propose to "fix" this merely take the skill out of the game. You might as well say anyone who practices a piece of music isn't a real musician. It's stupid.
