Are you looking for entertainment or instruction?

For entertainment:

I liked the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer".   I don't think it's been made into a movie, but the musical "Chess" is worth watching IMHO. "Geri's Game" the animation short from pixar was entertaining too.  Ther is also a YouTube-ish site devoted to chess at http://www.chessmovies.com/  Maybe all that is no-brainers, but its a start.

For instuction I usually pick up a book. :( I'm no help there.

There's already a huge thread on this. There are three top films everyone talks about. The Luzhin Defence, Searching For Bobby Fischer, and Game Over: Kasparov vs. Deep Blue.

I also suggest the movie "Knights of the South Bronx". The film is based on a true story about a substitute teacher who teaches chess to inner-city fourth graders. The cool thing about this film is that the students come from dysfunctional family situations. "Mason" played by Ted Danson said the following to his students, "on the chessboard it doesn't matter how much money you have or what clothes you're wearing or where you come from, and that it's only the moves you make, then and there."
