Wouldn't that just make you more horrible at chess?
Chess Needs New Pieces
wow, you calling him a noob?? I'll let you know, macer has an amazing amount of experience in the trolling business. . .
Judging from your rating, I'd say chess is difficult enough for you without adding more pieces.
Like someone that can barely swim wanting to take up scuba diving.
Once again people would like to harp on me and bring in disparaging comments about my rating as opposed to the actual topic. It just goes to show you how immature you all are and unable to be tolerant of others who have a serious subject at hand.
Ill bump this and hopefully some good replies will follow about new piece additions. By the way, I thought of the new piece idea before learning the Capablanca did as well, so Im well on way to thinking like a Grandmaster.
.... And a larger board to compensate for those pieces. Not today, not in the next few years, but maybe in about 200 or 300 years.
The primary culprit for this will be computers, and will be sooner rather than later depending on the advancement of quantum computing. Computers will continue to get stronger and stronger at the game and while I believe chess will never be solved, I do believe a particular exasperation will occur in which humans will emulate the best lines that are increasingly being figured out by computers which will cause competitive frustration and stagnation, ultimately.
I'm only emulating what Capablanca has been saying, and indeed something called Capablanca Chess already exists. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capablanca_chess I dont agree with the new piece design, but I do think in the future it will be more well thought out when implemented permanently.
