I actually agree with this. jdcannon if you know of any way to stop receiving messages from the "news" account I'd be glad to know what that is.

It's the official Chess.com News account, so no, it can't be blocked: I'm not sure that that's what @Rubylou1 is referring to, though.
There were 5 messages in all of September from News and two so far in October - there's probably going to be a couple more promoting the Carlsen v Nakamura Blitz battle, but the site doesn't think this is excessive.
