Bold are moves in the game. Notation not bold is analysis of what could have been played.
However, you might be looking at a puzzle book where bold are the moves that solve the puzzles, and not bold are the weaker moves that were played in the game. Your screenshot is too small for me to be certain.
35.Bd4 is a White move.
34...Rxc8 is a Black move. The ellipses tell you that.
# is checkmate.
Hello! Help. I don't understand this notation. We have a game here between Magnus Carlsen and Lagrave. Okay. Now it says
34. Rook c8!
Does this mean the white rook moves to C8? The rook looks black in the picture.
If it is Rook c8, how does this make sense? Is white trying to trade off rooks in this position?
further down it says this
34. Bishop H6, Bishop X C3; 34 Bishop D4 Check
I don't understand. I thought white played Rook c8 on the 34th move. Why is it now saying white is playing Bishop H6 on the 34th move? Which one is it?
It also says Bishop X C3. That picture looks like a white Bishop. But only the black bishop can take on C3.
Finally, it says Bishop D4 Check. Wait a minute. Was the 34th move for white Rook c8, Bishop H6, or Bishop D4? Why is 34 listed 3 times!?!?!?
Later on, 34 is listed again! Rook take d4. What do these dots mean? Why is 34 listed again for the fourth time? I thought there were only 2 moves for the 34th move possible. one for white and one for black
35. c Xd4 bishop x D4 is confusing to me because I don't understand the 34th move.
Why is 34 listed two more times? What do these dots mean?
How do I know if they are referring to a black rook or a white rook?
34..... rook x c8 sure looks black
34..... rook a8 sure looks white
At first I thought ok maybe the second position means black. But now I'm not sure. It looks like the black and white rook are in the second position on the 34th move.
Further down they have
35. rook X a8 rook x a8
ok..... so what was actually moved in the game? 35 is listed twice
36. is listed as bishop d4 #
okay. Does this mean white bishop goes to d4 and check? How do I know it's white?
35. Bishop d4 #
Why is 35 listed again? like what did the players actually move during the 34th and 35th move
I'm so confused. Help
