Chess openings

Depends on what the player prefers.
Most of the questions about 'what opening to play' arise from the fact that openings - unlike basic endings - basic checkmate positions - and basic tactics ... are not 'solved'.
There are supercomputer projects to try to 'solve' chess ... but they can't do it.
Even solving for just nine pieces on the board is too much for the computers.
Openings start with 32 pieces.
In ten million years that might still not be enough time to solve that position.
So - openings remain very much 'unsolved'.
Which is part of the mystery and beauty of the game.

But that doesn't mean openings can't be discussed.
They can be.
Like for example - that in the first five moves of all the major openings Nf3 by white and Nf6 by black - happen more than any other moves. In good play.
Even at lower levels - those moves happen more.
Can be discussed why that is. Multiple reasons.
However obvious the reasons might seem to whoever ...
