Yeah ... but they actually do. It's been long established that chess, math, and music are all very similar in many ways. See "Music and Chess: Apollo Meets Caissa" by Achilleas Zographos.
I like both, I have been playing both for a long time, though Chess I have not had actual training, so if I had to give one up, I would give up chess. For me, chess is more like recreation =)
