Chess Piece Showcase
Knight Showcase! The Knight is nearly as powerful as the Bishop not because of its range, but because it is the only piece that can hop over other pieces in an L-shaped path. This ability makes it particularly powerful in the early stage of a game when the board is crowded with pieces.
Fairy Piece Idea: Assassin. Moves like a queen but only forward, and no backward. Another name: Samurai.
There are two pieces in some chess variations which go by whatever name. Name is not important.
The point is that they are like the queen. The Queen moves like a Bishop and Rook, but not knight.
So, one new piece moves like a Bishop and knight, Which means it could move diagonally or like a knight but not in a straight line up down or left right.
while another pieces moves like a rook and knight, which means it cannot move diagonally.
There are variations of chess where these new pieces are used.
Hi. Welcome to the Chess Piece Showcase. Pieces are important parts of a match. Some pieces are far more valuable than others. Some are much weaker. Some pieces are fearsome predators good for attacking aggressively while some work better on defense. Some play well in early game while others are better at end game. Pieces have different values. The pieces are: the pawn, knight, bishop, rook, king, and queen. The values are: Pawn = 1, Knight = 3, Bishop = 3, Rook = 5, Queen = 9, and King = Infinite. What is your favorite piece, and why? And add ideas for new Fairy Pieces that might work. Enjoy!
