I usually try to draw out there sense of humor or atleast conversation. People seem afraid to admit there mistakes. When I make a bad move I like to use self effacing humor and see there response. They usually do the same when they make a mistake. This helps people to open up and chat. Some people do take playing or winning too seriously. If they can't even acknowledge you with ( gg ) I wouldn't want a rematch with them.

I'm not trying to be mean but it's because you and the other fun posters are not funny. If you were actually funny I wouldn't care but I have never seen anyone make a funny post on these forums. You just derail threads with really laim one liners.

Who says chess players don't have a sense of humour? There once was an old grandmaster who agreed to teach an up-and-coming superstar. The young player was good but totally rude and obnoxious (probably American!Smile). At the end of each teaching session, despite putting up with a barrage of poor sportsmanship and insulting language from his student, the old GM handed him a bag of shelled almonds - beautiful, sweet nuts that the student always gobbled up as he was going out the door.

After a number of sessions, it seemed to sink into the young players head that he had never thanked his teacher for doing this, so as he was going out the door he said - through a mouthful of half-chewed nuts - "Thenks for the nuts, 'bro."

"That's all right", replied the old GM. "They don't cost me anything. Every week mydaughter in Australia sends me a box of chocolate-coated almonds. But since I got my false teeth I can't eat them. All I can do is suck the chocolate off."

Good jokes here. But I thought we were talking about during your games.

If these are good jokes, I don't want to see the bad ones.

You must be thinking of Kaynight or whatever his name is. I generally do not derail threads with one liners. I occassionally derail threads that are egregiously bad or that I disagree with, or can interject some humor into with short paragraphs. Occassionally the one-liner, but to imply that one-liners is my mainstay is simply incorrect. Until I see an example of your so-called self-proclaimed sense of humor I will remain skeptical, but good-humored.

Oh, these jokes are really good. I would not tell you a bad joke.  You especially.  A sweet thing like you is worthy of only the funniest jokes. For example, did you hear the one about... No! Wait. I must restrain myself. Upon further scrutiny, I question whether that joke was funny enough.  Let me run that by my writing staff and legal department.  I might have to purchase an upgrade.

Anyone hear about the dyslexic chessplayer who walked into a bra ?

Who says chess players don't have a sense of humor?

What do you call someone who blunders immediately when out of book?  A novice.

Why did the master retreat his knight?  Because he wanted to make it useful on another square.

A class player had black against a titled player.  Despite the fact that he had black and was clearly outclassed by his opponent by 400 rating points he still played for a win.  Can you explain why this is so?  Because he was too optimistically hopeful for his own good.

What do you call a world class Dragon player?  Viktor Korchnoi.

That's funny! I will pass it on.

Spassky and Korchnoi sharing a laugh.

I haven't met that many Russians but those I have do have a sense of humor, though it tends to black humor (not racially speaking).

The chess players I know personally all have a sense of humor.

blitzjoker

Levon Aronian seems like a funny guy.
