Yep, 5 minutes ago I had someone telling me "You're a dirty player", because of some forks that I did to him ^^
Chess playing would be better if everyone was more friendly
Yep, I totally agree. Unfortunately chess is a very, very competitive game it seems and there are a lot of hm, let me put it that way: unlikeable person playing it.
In other games / sports people are usually friendly and helpful to newbies, however, the average chess player seems to have a bit of an issue with not beeing a jerk. Obviously this doens't count for everybody here.

Yes, but I think it's more of the fact that we're playing online, under anonymity that makes people less courteous.
I don't know... I actually think people are way more unkind during OTB games... might be just me, but whenever I lose a game it does indeed look like the opponent acts as if he was superior to me. Thank god that doesn't happen with everybody, but there are indeed people who make the assumption that their being better at chess automatically makes them a smarter and somewhat better person than the ones they have just emerged victiorious against.

Seems like your opponent was a sore loser!
I don't expect long conversations but having my opponent say 'gg' or 'thanks' when I say 'gg' at the end of the game would make my day.
Now, if they don't say anything, that's perfectly all right as well.
Of course, playing chess in itself, without chatting with your opponent, is already fun. But I find it pleasurable when my opponent is friendly. I don't expect long conversations but having my opponent say 'gg' or 'thanks' when I say 'gg' at the end of the game would make my day.
Unfortunately, youre playing on the internet. People can remain annonymous, and act like an idiot.

LOL! Lucky you!
I agree with Becky and the OP as well. It wouldn't make my day. But it would be nice to not have so many trash talking idiots who complain they lost.
If you see 9 year old behaviour on the internet, it's probably because there's a 9 year old on the other side. Or a dog. On the internet, nobody knows you're a dog.
