But be careful, no database program is REALLY easy to use, they all take a little time to figure out. But, well worth it, IMO`
[edit] I see you have another topic about auto annotate, SCID does that as well.

Thanks for letting me know about this. I will check it out. I am currently using Tarrasch chess which is very easy to use but quite limited.
I see in the other thread someone suggested Arena.
Arena is a great program for playing against engines, or engine tourneys.
But, as far as DB functions go, SCID is, IMO, as good or better as the expensive commercial programs.
I am no database expert by any means but I purchased HIARCS a few weeks ago because of it's reputation as being relatively easy to use and having a very human like engine. Computers and I don't actually get along too well so I was pleased to find HIARCS much easier to use than my old Fritz 12 which is not at all intuitive. So far I've just loaded it up with some more databases and figured out how to do the "quick search" which is amazingly easy to use.
You can add other engines, but thus far I haven't so I don't know how much of a hassle it is. Haven't done any annotation myself either but it looks like it's a 2 click process with full editing control. Saving, loading and searching all seem relatively intuitive. One of my better $60 purchases; as always, your mileage may vary...Oh one warning. If you buy it they want you to do a paypal transaction and then they send you an activation key by email. Wait 5 minutes or so for the servers to communicate your payment. I didn't and went into full panic mode when the activation numbers wouldn't work. Pretty decent documentation helps the process of getting used to it. Obviously not as powerful as some of the standard bearers like Chessbase but I think it will do all you want.

I would like a light-weight program for annotating my chess.com games that I download to my computer. My musts are:
1) Must be easy to use
2) Must allow me to use Stockfish for analysis
3) Must allow me to make free form notation inside of the PGN
4) Must allow saving, loading and searching.
Any recommendations would be appreciated
