is IMPOSSIBLE to defeat the cheaters. is impossible to know if a player have some help with a chess app phone or other helps.
who care of the rating, i play for fun, if i have a doubt about my opponent, i close the game and i restart a new game with another opponent.
"... i play for fun"
YOU ARE RIGHT!!!!! For first time in my life I've been studying and my play has improved. My rating has gone up some, but that's not the point. I enjoy it and that's enough.
With study, now it feels like I'm driving a fighter jet with 1000s of controls and dials to affect play in stead of being in a pinto with a gas pedal and a brake. So many more resources and possibilities. Awesome fun.

I would like to understand the rating system better. I'm 1320. I lose to a 1225, minus 10. lose to a 1450, minus 5. win to a 1610, plus 5. seriously?

Rating is to measure how strong you are. so you can make a plan in your training to make you a better player
Tell you what's weird, you can get 14 points for beating a 1900+ player, you also get 14 points for beating a 2100+ player, so I assume that the max that anyone can get for a win is 14 points

It depends on a mixture of player ratings and rating deviation values. For example, my last blitz win gave me 52 points. I haven't played a lot of blitz recently so my RD value is higher than it used to be and will result in larger swings.
I'm on about online chess only
Doesn't matter. The rating formulas are essentially the same. One of my last wins in Daily, against someone close in rating to me gave me 24 points and the one before that was 17.

the more often you play, the more accurate your rating is... if you don't play for a while, the system will try to correct your rating quicker.
