Im sad my rating keeps plumiting in speed chess cause im not very good at thinking very fast. ANY ADVICE ANYBODY PLZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!

if you dont like losing your rating points then dont play speed chess but if you like speed chess then just try practising moving quikly with the computer. how to do that without losing rating points is just to search up chess.com/play/computer ( by the way you need java to do this so just install it if you want to play). And one more thing try not to get too sad when you lose games because then you will fell unconfident and thats how you get on a losing streak.

Becca wrote: Rating has its place but its not the most important thing. Sometimes you can lose a game on time and it will seriously affect your rating this has nothing to do with how well you play.

Oh yes it does! How well you play includes how well you manage your time. Time is as much part of Chess as it is in other games. In football you could score the greatest goal in history, but if the referee blows time before it goes in it doesn't count. Similarly in Chess if you don't get your moves in within the time, you lose, and correctly so.

well actually in football you get to finish your play after the ref blows the whistle

I hate the clock when I'm short of time, but I think it's only fair when my opponent's flag falls.  :)

True dat Nono!

Alec is obviously more chess than football, (or does he mean soccer?)

IMO do provisional ratings, then everyone would start where they belong
