Hence the reason Bobby Fischer quit school.
Yeah; quitting school did fischer a lot of good. The Texas scholarships are administered with the assistance of Susan Polgar.
Fischer was already gm strength so he had more of a logical reason for quitting

Yes, my father died and my mother needs to care for a younger sibling with MS.
I need to work to support my family.
Boy, you just wanna argue about everything don't you. That might of been true years ago, but there are social services today. I'm saying quitting school for fischer didn't help him deal with life. He, and everybody who quit, could of had a much better life if they had stayed in school. There's hundreds of commercials on TV that tell you that, but because I said it, you want to argue. Thank You!

Yes, or I was a popular and athletic high school student in Colorado in 1984. I was a star player on the football team named the "Wolverines." I have a friend that got that scholarship from Texas, but she has won a PanAm Tournament and is a Woman International Master.

I'm sorry I hurt your feelings. I thought you wanted an answer to your question.
Social services won't provide what is needed, the family is too proud to be governement leeches, they have morals and dignity, they do not want to be beholden to any one else, they believe they are responsbile for themselves, etc. Lots of people in America still believe in those things.
Don't worry, I won't challenge you any more. I see that you cannot take it. Enjoy your life.
And how did that movie end?? When the war was over, did they go back to school??

Undergraduate Chess Merit Scholarships
Scholarships are available for exceptionally strong chess players (FIDE 2500 and above). The amount of the award varies according to qualifications and can include scholarship funds and tournament training support.
