Hey this question is really for anyone who knows about the crim-solving show Endgame in episode 11 they finally show some positions of Balagan playing and although a strange question I wanted to know what master games the show were taking those positions from so far jsut from watching this is what I picked up on.

Looking in MegaBase 2012 the most likely game candidate that I came up with searching for this position was:

nothing!

However, if I look just for the pawn formation, I find over two thousand games. Filtering down for only GM level games, there's a about 200 games that it could be, but none of them are an exact match. It kind of looks like it it is just opening analysis from some opening book and not a real game.

I've read an interview that the guy who plays Balagan had to learn how the pieces move and he memorizes fragmentes of games for the role, but he is not himself a chess player. My guess is that they didn't play it on their own. My guess is that they are scripted games by whoever their chess consultant is.
