Chess Spectatorship

Hi guys,

Is there any chess writing which talks about watching a game of chess which goes beyond statistical analysis? What I mean is, there is a lot of writing by players who experience epiphany moments, moments of insight, i.e. border-line spiritual moments while playing a game, but surely there must be a spiritual component to spectating games as well, else it wouldn't be so popular.

Even if you talked about games that you watched that have affected you in that sort of way, that'd be a massive help. I am doing an assignment on the spiritual and psychological aspects of spectating sport, rather than those (more-oft-wrote-about) aspects while playing sport.
