Has anyone taken a good look at this? Though new, it now has four people giving it 5 stars at Amazon. I wonder if it is a good beginning for positional minded chess folk. The subtitle to the book reads :"a Blueprint for Developing the Best Plan " I bought it and I will study my way through it before reading Simple Chess and My System. It is for intermediates then advanced players. take a look and tell me what you think. Stwils.

Stwils -

My advice is to immediatly read My Systemm.  It is a book that you can get something out of at any level.  Read it now -start to finsih.  Then spend a couple of months working on something else.  And then come back to it and you will get even more out of it.

No. The workbook I'm talking about is by Todd bardwick.

Are you talking about "Chess Blueprints: Planning in the Middlegame" by Nikolay Yakovlev?

It is an excellent book. It is not a workbook. And, yes, it is aimed at intermediate to advanced players. The book is about positional themes and patterns, and it is loaded with lots of examples. It also has some good practical advice.

What do the comments re. ceating have to do with this book?!

I agree that this book has potential and I like the way it is structured. Unfortunatly I found (Rybka did) a big error in one of the first examples. After that I felt I could not thrust the quality of the book. I have posted the error here:

The error I refer to, is from another chess book and not Todd Bardwick's.

Sorry that I started writing about another book in your thread.
