Forgive me if there is a better place to put this (im new to the forum)
I understand that us human's are limited in how good we can be at chess but what about computers?
Ultimately this comes down to what factors can be expanded on ultimately improving the overall ELO. If a computer can predict the opponents next move by statistics gathered by the computer's observation of other games, could it obtain a maximum ELO?
Rating is based on performances against other ratings. So, if an engine could win 100% of the time against all other opponents, it would have a rating at an amount over the next highest rated opponent.
