Not impressive. This is why so many forum topics end up like this.

I don't suffer fools, he kept repeating stuff I already know.  Might as well be a parrot.

It’s the polarization of society. The New Normal.

simply put:

if a CM wants to be a GM, they must first improve to the skill level of a FM, After that, the FM needs to be the skill level of an IM, so on so forth. in your mind, they somehow "put in an effort once" and that differentiates them from other esports players? they just magically go from wherever they were and put in some effort and *poof* GM. how do you think people get better at anything? they work. improving your skill is gradual, you dont just go from newbie to master in one moment

edit: blocked for disagreeing? thats a little petty of you, but sure. Unfollowed, have fun arguing

I don't talk to low IQ kids.  I gave you 2 chances.

Not very warranted though.

Why do Chess game/players called themselves a sport/athletes but you keep GM and other titles for life whereas sports teams change titles every year like Champions *snip*

Don't know if they call themselves athletes. Do some or do they all? Are there some who don't? So they get to keep the title then?

Title is kept for life as per FIDE rules. Discussing it here will not change that. You could write to them or lobby as you like.

Championship changes hands just the same.

Blocking is fine but is the name calling necessary?

Let's march to his place and grab his title then! Any one else? I'm gathering the troops.

Good one, haha.

We obviously do things differently, don’t we.

Well blocking someone for a reason lacking much substance (as most of us would see it), will only lead (1) the thread to go off topic and (2) no one to take the thread seriously.

In short, it lowers the standards

You were not okay with blocking before, “is blocking necessary” quoting you. Now you are okay.  And now also you are not okay with name calling, what else are you not okay with?

Wasn't me. If people keep misquoting me, I might get famous. Wouldn't want that

Basically, this is the only guy who addressed my concerns in this thread so far.  Other people don’t seem to understand what I am referring to or seemed confused.

That's funny cause he confused me with another account before. Guess I have a very common handle 😉

It is like the Hall of Fame they have in other sports.

It’s like belt system in martial arts. You rarely lose tour color.

" Whereas in Chess you only have promotions and no demotions"

You have ratings! They are a constantly updated public measurement of your current playing strength.

I like it, how the system is. You work super hard to get that title and then you get to keep it. Even if you grow old and not any longer at peak you still get to keep the title and you have earned the respect the title gives you.

What I dont like is some titles like CM where I see some lower rated players have gotten somehow. It milks the titles out and makes them less valuable.

get CM after several years of work and see how it feels

it would take so long to get IM/GM that most people wouldn't think its worth it without something inbetween

No offense, but CM isn't an actual title. It literally means "You're a candidate, not even a real master. FM means you have gotten to 2300 FIDE at least once in your life. CM means you need like 2000 FIDE, that's expert level.

I feel like if you have chess friend's, getting any title is a brag. My friends talk about going for CM as it wouldn't take that much work. I feel like IM and GM and titles that are more for the real chess people and not much for the casual people who play for fun and get good.
