5 min games is pretty fast too. You could lengthen the games. All play at once. Only prob is if you play 2 games a piece, you might end up screwing up the system with a knockout. It would work with one game a piece though.

Well, you all should know, money is going to be involved. 10 bucks a person sounds right for first time around.
ok, rules...
1. 5 minute game max.
2. 30 seconds to make a move.
3. if your opponent does not make a move within those thirty seconds, you get to slap him in the face. If you slap him in the face, he gets to make a move within another 30 seconds. 3a. If your opponent says no to the face slapping, he loses his turn. -----make sense so far?
4. After the five minutes is up, the player with the most pieces of your opponent, wins.
Round Robin tourney? Should I have more or less rules?

2nd move for white is Qf3. Lets say this took 10 seconds.
Now white waits and does not move. 9 slaps later the time is 4:40. White waits until 4:59 and plays Q captures anything. Game ends, white has more pieces, and wins the game.
no. it would be a BYOB for sure...i'd grill the ribs...but prolly go with some zaaaa...6 players, 2nd place would get slapped. yes. i'm bringing the slap back. he/she would want revenge. and want to come back like Nik said.
the big prize is the money. maybe down the road if it hits off well, i'd provide a trophy of some sort. or a gold plated chess board...ooo
when i was in NY i used to run golf tournaments. Started off with £20 entry only 32 players to start. Then $25, then $30, then $40, then $50. Top end there were 72 players one year & 60 guests for the party ($10 for food/booze)
Point is: you can build it up slowly. Week by week or month by month bud

but I have second doubts about the slaps. you sound like Nik's exgirlfriend. go for full wrestling and asphyxiation.
if second place dude survives he can come back next week. Big prizes means manly effort for sure. we're getting close. though I don't see you reaping much mula on this gig.
but the wrestling is good entertainment- a dinner and a show...besides I'm sure your ribs are the best.
I actually agree with Patzer, not sure the slaps are a good idea. Beer, I've just lost & came in second & now I am being slapped......ouch........there will be fights with that type of formula bud. 
WELL we could do choke outs. I was at a poker game couple weeks back, this dude was getting choked out during the game. the guy who was about to pass out, instead of tapping out, he was punching the guy in the face about 5 times...guy didn't budge.
o. and the guy doing the choke out? he plays chess. 
Patzer..there is always money to be won and gained. when I do tourneys, poker tourneys..one will always come out on top.

You have 3 things going on, it widens your participants. Perhaps the guys who turn up for cards, cannot play chess, or some are just there for the arm wrestling. Anyway, you have a good variety with those 3.

besides, Seriously, most of the other details are good, except--- the accounting. you are planning for 6 right? your going to pony up for ribs and brews and still pay the big guy winner 100$. where's your cut exactly? that is quite expensive gift for your friends. You, Mr capitalist will be lucky to only lose 100$.
I think you'd need a much bigger group to make anything like that work. and if your going to make some mula- its BYOB, and perhaps pizza but prolly not.
also you need to be posting a big prize if you want to make it a match. if people are taking many days out of the busy schedule they want an big pot.
