No, it is not. There are patterns based on the chart. I've won more in bacc than I lost in bacc

That's interesting. How long have you been playing, frequency etc ?

Do any poker players here think Chess is actually good for your Poker?  I love both, and they are both very analytical I think, but I have a feeling that if I get better at Chess I might get worse at Poker.... because in Chess there is always a right move (well almost) but in Poker you need to stay focused on playing the man as well as the cards....

you can lose your money too

'Luck' in chess, usually revolves around, how a person, is coping with Life, {a 'Biggie'!}... AWAY, from 'the board' !

.. On that basis.. Common sense, should tell us, that without us, all knowing how 'Magnus' is Not coping successfully, with his life, {away, from the board}.. Rest assured, that, he was one 'unhappy camper' even Before, his 2 most recent, chessic, oversights !

I like the fact that both games can be played winning in various ways. And both games require lots of time and discipline to become a good player. The money aspect makes poker more addictive which makes chess a healthier choice (for me at least.)  I enjoy some live games/tourneys incidentally. Black friday killed the online part.

Chess and poker are completely different. Chess is analytical. Poker is emotional. Poker is about knowing odds of course. But most of it comes down to reading people, their bets, and their habits. Chess is book smarts. Poker is street smarts.

And as to online poker being rigged. I wonder if people just don't realize how many more hands they're playing online vs in person. Especially since a lot of players are running multiple tables at once. That makes bigger hands much more likely. Not saying it isn't rigged. But your perspective might be skewed.

The game was so easy back than that it really means nothing. He was a supernatural genius so if he lived today he'd surely be the best, but to say someone was the best ever back in the day when everyone was a fish is kind of silly.

Yeah HUNLHE is getting solved. Unfortunately. They use 1400 CPU cores for each game btw.

Short term, poker is 60% skill and 40% luck.  Chess is 99% skill.

Long term, poker is 90% skill and 10% luck.  Chess is 99% skill.

Of course it takes a lot of skill, but it also takes a lot of luck.

It is not uncommon that in big tournament professional players are being eliminated earlier than amateurs.

Re. # 50 comment - As long as the 'human element' is either 50%.. {as in " 'man' vs. machine"}, or 100%, ergo, 'man-versus-man'.. competing, in chess.. The less-than-certain, outcomes, involving 'chess'.. will be commensurate, with what All humans, are prone to, while competing ..Ie., Too tired; Too distracted; Too ill.. {physically}.. or even 'depressed'; <- A sub-category, of 'Too distracted'.
