Interesting. Must check your stats :)

My stats are about the usual.

Joined nine months or so ago, and was assigned the usual 1200 starting rating.

Quickly climbed to 1900-2000-ish rating, then more slowly to my current 2100 peak. I seem to be losing one or two of my current games, so I'll likely drop back down below 2100 before too long.

Best win was vs a FM from Iraq.

Well that is quite high turn-based rating when your others are pussyish. You will be pleased you finally discovered chess.com 9-months ago.

Congratulations!

Do you have an OTB, FIDE or USCF rating?

My 960 rating is based on one game, which I won.

My tactics trainer rating is low because I'm too slow. I'm coming back to chess after a 25-year absence from the game... I used to play OTB in the 70's and 80's. I'm 56.

I think i remember seeing your name when you first joined chess.com. You started off with about 7 games currently. Then added a few more. lost track after that.

Yes so understand in turn-based there is more time to locate a decent-move.

You have only played 59 games since joining chess.com and never encountered opponent who was banned. Why then join the ''cheating-forum''? Were you just interested what it was all about??

blueemu

I suspected one of my opponents of using an engine.

Yes, I was up to about thirty games at one point... playing in a King's Indian Attack theme tournament. It was too crazy playing all those games at once, so I cut back to half a dozen or so.

Wouldn't be unusual :)

Okay reckon you are very good player indeed to not lose a single game as black vs 1.d4 from your opponents. Perhaps they were weak opponents.

SPARTANEMESIS

So blueemu your online rating is currently 2117 and your response to this SOS thread was basically: "Sit on your hands."  That is interesting.  Do you give all SOS signals the same attention?

Laughing I beat a guy who had a 2538 (!) tactics trainer rating (and a 2044 Online Chess rating) with the Black pieces in twenty moves in a very tactical King's Indian Panno variation. No-one on this site seems to play the openings correctly. Myself included...

I try to reply when people ask for help, yes.

I was ENTIRELY serious about offering that "sit on your hands" advice.

The point is that, after deciding on your move, you'll need to pull your hands out from under you in order to actually make the move on the board. At that instant, you should be reminded to think "Wait... am I making a blunder?"

It's a physical version of a mnemonic aide.

Twenty-five years ago, I was a member of the CFC (Canadian Federation of Chess), a FIDE affiliate... CFC# 1498. My OTB CFC rating went up and down between about 1925 and 2050. I won the Atlantic Open in 1973, and the Closed in 1981. Represented the Atlantic Provinces in the Canadian Junior in 1974. Played on the Canadian team in a couple of informal (non-official) Canada-US matches.

Then retired from the game in '88 or '89, and only got back into it nine months ago.

Okay since 59 games are not really enough to conclude anything. Additionally you do open 1.Nf3 quite often which has to be genuine :)

blueemu

Ah... you suspected me of being an engine-monkey?

Undecided (This web-site needs a Ninja smiley)

Who can you trust? Who?

waffllemaster

blueemu doesn't look suspicious at all... the other ratings (960 and tactics) aren't even established.  So even if you wanted to think up some reason there's simply no reason to suspect anything.

netzach

I suspect most people on this site with supposed chess-ratings in excess of 2000 who do not supply name/credentials.

I did not however accuse blueemu of a single thing if you care to read back before waffling waffle.

We were just talking...

Sitting on my hands? Or being rude on the Internet?

There's a lot to be said for each method.

I trust you know a lot about both of these.

Just so.

I'm a Demi-Moderator on the Paradox forum, so I am very well aquainted with Internet trolling. I have learned from some of the Masters.

SPARTANEMESIS

I believe you even though I know very little about it.
