I knew the OP would be American. They hate draws over there for some reason, whereas in England we're happy to play cricket for 5 days only for it to end in a draw... and it's great.
I mean, when OP started talking about there being no draws in football... and if there were a lot of draws it wouldn't be popular, well... yeah. USA!!! Why draws are such a bummer to Americans is sort of a mystery.
Even looking at US football, the 1968 "Harvard Beats Yale, 29–29" game is considered one of the best college gridiron games of all time.
Draws are fine.
100% some Draw rules are really bad. For me, a draw should only be committed through a handshake. The only true draw is when you both only have your king left. That is a draw where you can both hold your heads high. Most draws in chess feel like a loss for one player and a win for the other. Navigating into a draw is cowardly and should be an auto loss as only bad players think that way.
Multiply your rating by three and you’ll still have less than the rating of these “bad players” who seek draws when the position demands it. Consider, for example, game 5 of the just completed World Chess Championship. Both players were nearly perfect. Then, in game 6, they played the longest WCC game in history, which was still technically drawn until 130….Qe6.
