Hi

Does anyone know anything about Chessbase Reader?

It comes with Fritz 11 and allows the user to use other engines.

How does it compare with other free software?

I can't seem to find user instructions - does anyone know if they exist?

Many thanks

chessbase reader is a free version of chessbase.  You can use it to watch chess base videos, but unlike the paid version of chessbase, you cannot create databases, or save games to it.

Basically, it is designed to allow you to use Chessbase instructional material.

To actually play against engines, check out Lucas Chess.

For database work there are free alternatives as well although I didn’t care for them. Check out Scid vs Pc for one such.
