Even though he never had any official chessboxing matches, I still nominate Max Euwe as the GOAT in chessboxing.

And who's MAx Euwe, is he currently the chessboxing champion for 2011?

Ex-World Chess Champion and something of an amateur boxer. A giant of a man, probably around 6' 7'' (2.05m) in height.

According to Goldendog, Euwe was 6'4".  Boy, in that photo of him standing next to Karpov, though, he looks more like he's 7'4"!

I've tried (in the past) to find proper reference to his height and failing that, I've gone with my best guess.

chessmaster102

don't tell people much but I actually study chessboxing world champions more than standard world championsSealed

loserplayer2000

and how was your study now? do you want to be involve in that sports? how can we apply for that chessboxing sports?do we need a FIDE rating?

chessmaster102

to apply from what I've read you need a fide rating of 1900 and 2 years of at least semi-pro boxing experiance under your belt. I liked the study because to be part of that sport you have to put in more work and preparation since your dealing with both sports.

kenshinsasuke

i think the rating requirement is little bit high for the application of this chessboxing sports, this should be 1500 standard rating so that many of them will apply to their sport.

Lennox Lewis would have owned this sport!

This article about Lennox Lewis and chess might be one of the funniest I've read in a while.

chess vs boxing is an opposite degree of sport where one uses mind and other is using body inorder to win.

how about 1700, i can say that's an average for me to apply chessboxing sport.

khlarenschess

i heard that chessboxing is a growing sports in european countries....

klintshin

yeah..absolutely, i dont know if it'll come to philippines....

khlarenschess

much better if it'll introduce here in philippines, a lot of talented pinoy boxers but dont know how to play chess, and a lot of pinoy talented chessers but dont know hot to box...this would be the answer to the doubts of everybody.

kenshinsasuke

if you think that it will happen here, but absolutely not, it's just a risk to a player,..why?because who ever gonna focus more move to thinks when your head got hurt by the punches of your opponent.
