The ones made out of iron are hard; the ones made out of butter are not-so-hard.
Why is chess spelled with 2 s'es when 1 would work just fine?
I think it's because with one 's' the 'ehh' sound would become an 'e' sound. Or maybe that would only happen with two e's. Im confused now.

Isn't 'ches' a French word that has something to do with restaurants?
Speaking of such, about a year after coming to Thailand, I went into a restaurant that had a 'chess omellete'.

The game was named after "chess pie," which was a favorite of Ruy Lopez's.
i like apple pie; therefore 'chess' should now be 'apple'
