What kind of beer was this Lithuanian beer?  9% abv is pretty common.

Hi sweetie. It's called Zhiguly Grande. I have one bottle left, but I'm saving it for later...

Right...let's sit around and drink beer. Real original.

I have no idea what this guy is talking about...I get home after work and I go to chess.com while having a few cold ones. So what?

There's nothing wrong with it. It's just that alcohol is an extremely old, outdated, boring drug at this point. If you said you came home and smoked a bowl, my interest might actually be piqued. Drink a beer? What are you, a 48 year old man?

Wow, aren't you a unique little snowflake.

Mi'lord. Like the pot you smoke, Alcohol has been around for centuries. And it's not going anywhere. Everybody gets their kicks from something, yes?

batgirl

Beer Advocate calls Zhiguly Grande a lager-type beer. Ratebeer calls it a lager/imperial pilsner.  Probably an Imperial with that abv.  It gets decent ratings and reviews, but not great ones.  I prefer IPAs, the hoppier the better, though I must admit I do like Guiness. It has the creamiest head.

For the record, alocohol is an element of beer, not it's purpose. It's about things like flavor, aroma, mouthfeel and taste, not about getting high. That would be childish.

Beer is maybe an adquired taste, but it's worth it.

Shrug. Then you understand nothing about beer.

Ok Batgirl got me with this creamiest head stuff. What is this Guiness stuff and where can I find some?  Were still taking beers right ?

No...and I don't want to understand it, either.

That's perfectly fine.... de gustibus non est disputandum... but it also invalidates your opinions on the matter.

I thought I loved batgirl before, but now I find out she likes beer!?

Chess, chess history, smart, beer lover= a rare woman.

I used to think beer was awful too.

I came to find out there is a huge variety of beer. Some are so bitter I can hardly swallow them. Some have so little taste it's like drinking water. Some are sweet like fruit. Some taste like a dessert, some taste like bread.

Then there are the ones I like... I'm new to it all so I don't know what kind that is lol. My point being that I think Batgirl is right.

Dude...she's clearly a big, fat beast who sits on her ass and drinks beer while she blogs about nothing relevant all day.

Speaking of a frothy head....^^^^

batgirl is a gem.

Good. Now continue wasting your time kissing her ass over the internet.

Like spending time with you is anything anyone here is valuing? Anyone?

This is a very unfair characterization. Batgirl is a gem on this site. One of the few I'll rush to read if I see she commented on something. She's both intelligent and well spoken.

Social aspect :p

I can't talk chess with friends or family, they don't play.

It's chess.com. This isn't a social experience. It's a chess forum.

I'm not hear to listen to the ramblings of a middle aged housewife. I'm here to talk about and play chess. Why anyone would be here for another reason is kind of beyond me.

To be playing everyone's balls doesn't count as another reason?

Again...it's not the end of the world it's just a big waste of space for those of us who aren't here to meet new friends and instead do that in places we feel are more appropriate for it.

That's for sure!

Yeah, forums could stand better moderation for sure.

But if you're so die hard on chess (which is great by the way) why click on this topic which is clearly off topic?

Except that you're in the forums and not talking about chess, but some social aspect of the forums.

And if you think that only those with more chess content in their resume than batgirl should be allowed then this would indeed be a desolate place.

Any non-pinhead knows she makes the forums and the site a richer experience.

Pulpofeira

I'm missing something here.

I guess his ICC account excuses him?
